Did you know that Sheila Majid was the first Malaysian artiste to break into Japan? The song Sinaran was so popular (still is) that a brand new fresh arrangement was recorded specially for the Japanese market.
On July 14th 1989, a mini 3-inch CD single of Sinaran was released exclusively in Japan for a brief period. The single features a new version of Sinaran & September Shares (English version of her Malay hit, Antara Anyer Dan Jakarta).
Her efforts didn’t stop there. A special compilation album with the same name was released two months later.
Trivia:
- “Sinaran” hit the No. 1 spot in Japan’s Sapporo Radio Station a few weeks after its release (Source: The Straits Times, October 13th 1989)
